Treevitalize Programs

Treevitalize Neighborhoods

The goal of TreeVitalize Neighborhoods is to improve the quality of life in older neighborhoods through tree planting projects in neighborhood settings- along streets, in parks or other public lands such as schools, libraries, police and fire stations. Geographic targets include areas of lower tree cover and higher population density. In order to enhance natural resources stewardship, the preferred model is community-assisted neighborhood tree plantings that minimize the use of contractor services and maximize the use of in-kind labor from local government sources and/or community volunteers. TreeVitalize will form partnerships with county and local governments to implement projects in approximately 40 neighborhoods in the five-county region.

Treevitalize Watersheds

The goal of TreeVitalize Watersheds is to improve water quality and natural resources stewardship through planting forested riparian buffers along streams, reservoirs and headwaters. Priority areas for planting projects are public lands, private protected lands and source water protection areas. The preferred model is community-assisted volunteer plantings where volunteers plant native trees and shrubs to create or enhance the buffer. If you are interested in organizing a forested riparian buffer project or volunteering to plant trees along streams, please contact the following organizations in your county: Bucks County Conservation District, Gretchen Schatschneider 215-345-7577 Chester County Conservation District, Chotty Sprenkle 610-925-4920 Chester County - Stroud Water Research Center, Bern Sweeney 610-268-2153 Delaware County Conservation District, Bill Gothier 610-892-9484 Montgomery County Conservation District, Susan Greth 610-489-4506 Philadelphia County - Fairmount Park Commission, Sarah Low 215-683-0214
